Cal met 25 year-old Faith at a volunteer event last year and they exchanged numbers. They sent texts back and forth a few times and he felt like there was a connection. When he learned she lived with her boyfriend Mike, however, he was kind of confused about whether she was leading him on or not. And when she sent an LH6 (let's have sex) message to him after a particularily flirty exchange, he didn't really know how to respond. But it turns out there is some "flexibility" in her relationship with Mike. Cal wasn't sure how he felt about being the guy on the side, but didn't really want to turn down a chance with her either. He just wasn't really interested in a secret affair with someone else's girlfriend.
But that turns out not to be the case as Mike not only knows about him, but actually drops Faith off at Cal's place once in a while for what are obviously sex dates. And he has actually met Mike a few times. Making their relationship "open" is probably Mike's way of avoiding pressure to get married. And Faith is always ready to go whenever she and Cal get together and doesn't even need any foreplay. So while he would like to be more than friends, Cal is content with their "friends with benefits" status as of now. Maybe someday it will be more, but for now it's just texts and sex.
